GPS geo-tagging for AI-generated images

SEO ROCKET now supports automatically adding GPS location data into AI-generated images to boost local SEO for users’ businesses.

What was shipped

  • A new geo-tagging feature takes a business address, converts it to latitude/longitude via Google Maps, and embeds that data into the image’s EXIF metadata.

  • A toggle and address field were added under Settings → Generation so users can turn geo-tagging on and manage the address used for tagging.

How it works

  • When a user saves their business address, the system geocodes it once, stores the coordinates in the database, and reuses them to avoid extra API calls.

  • During image generation and compression, those stored coordinates are passed through the pipeline and written into each AI-generated image’s EXIF GPS fields.

Why it matters

  • Geo-tagged images can help strengthen local relevance signals for businesses in search and map ecosystems when those images are used on websites or listings.

  • This gives users a low-friction way to align their AI content with their real-world location, especially useful for local service businesses and brick-and-mortar locations.
