The Backlink Exchange is SEO Rocket's built-in system for automatically exchanging backlinks with other websites in the SEO Rocket network. Backlinks are one of the most important ranking factors in SEO, and this feature helps you build them without the time-consuming process of manual outreach, guest posting, or link-building campaigns.

When you participate in the Backlink Exchange, SEO Rocket pairs your website with other relevant sites in the network. Links to your site are placed naturally within their published articles, and in return, links to their sites are placed within yours. The entire process is automated and managed through a credit system.

How the Backlink Exchange Works

The Backlink Exchange operates on a simple give-and-receive model. When SEO Rocket publishes an article on your site, it may include a natural backlink to a partner site. In return, when a partner site publishes an article, it may include a backlink pointing to your site. These links are placed contextually within the article content, making them appear natural to both readers and search engines.

The system matches you with other SEO Rocket users automatically. You don't need to reach out to anyone, negotiate link placements, or manage any of the logistics. Everything happens behind the scenes as part of your normal content publishing workflow.

Dashboard Overview

When you open the Backlink Exchange page, you'll see four summary cards at the top:

Card

What It Shows

Available Credits

The number of backlink exchange credits you currently have. This includes your monthly allocation, any earned credits, and any purchased credits.

Domain Rating

Your site's current Domain Rating, along with a Quality Score out of 100.

Backlinks Received

The total number of backlinks pointing to your site from partner sites in the exchange.

Links Given

The total number of backlinks placed in your articles that point to partner sites.

These cards give you a quick overview of your exchange activity and the health of your backlink profile within the network.

Exchange History

Below the summary cards, the Exchange History section shows a detailed log of every backlink exchange that has taken place. You can filter the list using the tabs at the top:

  • All shows every exchange, both given and received.

  • Received shows only backlinks that other sites have placed pointing to your site.

  • Given shows only backlinks that were placed in your articles pointing to partner sites.

Each entry in the history table includes the following information:

Column

Description

Direction

Whether the backlink was "Received" (pointing to your site) or "Given" (placed in your article pointing to a partner).

Partner Site

The name and domain of the partner website involved in the exchange.

Anchor Text

The clickable text used for the backlink.

DR

The Domain Rating of the partner site at the time of the exchange.

Status

The current status of the backlink (for example, "placed" means the link is live).

Date

The date the exchange was recorded.

Each row also includes a link icon that lets you view the article where the backlink was placed, as well as a delete option if you want to remove an exchange.

Backlink Exchange Settings

Click the Settings button in the top-right corner of the page to open the Backlink Exchange Settings panel. Here you can configure your preferences to control how the exchange works for your site:

Paired Companies displays the list of companies you're currently exchanging backlinks with. Each entry shows the company name, domain, niche, and how many exchanges have taken place. You can remove any partner by clicking the remove button next to their name if you no longer want to exchange links with them.

Minimum Domain Rating lets you set a threshold for the quality of sites you're willing to accept backlinks from. For example, setting this to 10 means you'll only receive backlinks from sites with a Domain Rating of 10 or higher. This helps ensure you're building links from sites that have at least a baseline level of authority.

Max Outgoing Links Per Article controls how many partner backlinks can be placed in a single article on your site. The range is 1 to 3, with a default of 2. Keeping this number reasonable ensures your articles don't feel overloaded with external links.

Excluded Receive Niches lets you specify niches you don't want to receive backlinks from. For example, if you run a family-friendly business, you might exclude certain industries. Type the niche name into the field to add it to your exclusion list.

Excluded Send Niches works the same way but in the opposite direction. It lets you specify niches you don't want your backlinks placed on. This gives you control over which types of sites your brand is associated with.

Opting Out

If you decide you no longer want to participate in the Backlink Exchange, click the Opt Out button in the top-right corner of the page. This will remove your site from the exchange network. Existing backlinks that have already been placed will remain, but no new exchanges will be created.

Credits

The Backlink Exchange uses a credit system to manage exchanges. Your available credits are displayed on the dashboard. Monthly credits are included with your SEO Rocket plan and refresh each billing cycle.

Each backlink exchange uses credits. The more credits you have available, the more exchanges the system can facilitate for your site.

Why Backlinks Matter

Backlinks are links from other websites that point to your site. Search engines like Google treat backlinks as a signal of trust and authority. When reputable sites link to your content, it tells Google that your site is valuable and worth ranking higher in search results.

Building backlinks manually is one of the most difficult and time-consuming parts of SEO. The Backlink Exchange automates this process by connecting you with other real businesses in the SEO Rocket network, creating a mutually beneficial system where everyone's domain authority grows together.

The Backlink Exchange takes one of the hardest parts of SEO and makes it effortless. By participating in the network, you steadily build your site's authority and improve your chances of ranking higher for the keywords that matter most to your business.
